Mohammed, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, Rural and Regional Development of Johor and Chairman of Johor State Road Safety Council.
Datuk Ir. Hj. Hasni bin Hj. Mohammed says, “the vision of this campaign to put the State of Johor on a par with developed countries to achieve death rates due to road accidents at less than 2 deaths for every 10,000 registered vehicles is not new, it is still a continuous effort by the State Government and agencies involved drastically reducing accident rate in the state. However, due to changing times and technology, it is appropriate that new initiatives be created to address current road traffic problems that are heavily influenced by current culture and knowledge ”
He adds, “The noble effort by YAM Tunku Temenggong Johor in commencing the Johore Road Safety Campaign is a step that should be honored. The approach to the people and young people is especially important in building a new local culture that prioritizes the safety of all road users.”
Jazeman’s driving expertise and experience at an international level will be highlighted in the efforts to improve the road safety system as intended by the MKJR. At today’s logo launch event Jazeman and invited artist, Harith Iskandar, formalised the logo launch by handing a symbolic title of the appointment to YAM Tunku Temenggong Johor. A total of 15 members of the Johor State Road Safety Council Committee have received the Appointment Statute which was approved by the Patron of the Johor Road Safety Council, His Royal Highness Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johor.
Jazeman says of his role with Johor Road Safety Council and the Road Safety Campaign, “I am honoured and proud to have been asked to sprearhead this invaluable programme. As a racing driver, I keep my fast driving to the track and drive sensibly on the road, as I’m only too aware of the dangers of everyday driving. I believe it is very important to educate the younger generations of the importance of driving safely, particularly in today’s time when there are so many distractions, from sat navs to mobile phones. I look forward to working with my fellow committee members to develop and implement a successful campaign.”
The establishment of the Road Safety Council shows the seriousness of the government in collaboration with the private sector in reducing the rate of road accidents in Johor. The target of the State Government is to reduce mortality rate due to road accidents and to raise awareness to the younger generation about the importance of road safety. In an effort to raise awareness on road safety, various road safety programs will be implemented in selected districts to attract more interest for the younger generation to follow all road safety programs in order to safeguard road safety in the eyes of the younger generation. Hopefully this road safety campaign will have a big impact in the effort to nurture and instill the Johor State Road Safety Council guidelines and promote safe driving messages.
