Jazeman keen to add podiums at ‘The Rock’ this weekend

The Cooper Tires British F3 International Series returns to the UK for the remaining three events in 2011, with Jazeman keen to add podium results at the eighth round of the championship taking place at Rockingham Motor Speedway this weekend.

The young Malaysian, lying sixth in the championship, has enjoyed strong results so far, with four podium finishes, including a third place last time out at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and 15 top ten finishes from 21 starts. Jazeman has tested at the Corby circuit prior to the start of the season and after showing good pace in these sessions, is anticipating a highly competitive weekend with his Carlin team. He says, “We’ve had a couple of tests at Rockingham ahead of the season and I feel really comfortable that we have a good base setup and that we’ll be able to develop a quick car for the British F3 races. I didn’t have a particularly good weekend at this track last season so I’d like to master it this year and grab some more podium finishes. “Felipe Nasr is close to wrapping up the championship in the next few races, but the battle for second is still very much in contention and I’m one of six drivers who are in the running with nine races left to amass Drivers’ Championship points. So it’s really important that I score points in every race and as many podiums as I can.” The Rockingham track, originally designed as an oval circuit for Indycars, has an infield layout which uses some of the high speedway oval to produce a mix of high speed banking and a trickier twisty section. Jazeman explains, “Getting the car balanced for this track isn’t easy as it is always a compromise between the flat-out banking and the narrow infield sections, as these need different aero settings. We’ve worked hard to develop the balance in our test sessions, but weather, as always, is the unpredictable factor and could throw a spanner in the works. “I’ve had a couple of weeks off since Zandvoort Masters which I’ve used to focus on my fitness training and I’m very pumped up for these final three events.” The Rockingham round of the British F3 International Series starts with qualifying and race one on Saturday 3rd September and the second and third races on Sunday 4th September.
