Jazeman ready to take on ‘The Rock’

Jazeman Jaafar’s busy season of racing continues this weekend with the fourth round of the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series which will be held at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, UK, a venue affectionately known as ‘The Rock’.

The unique race circuit, the only one in the UK to feature an oval track, will host an event which promises to see plenty of track action and Jaafar is expecting to be in the thick of it all, as he races to add more podium finishes to his excellent tally this year. Jaafar, a PETRONAS Talent Programme driver says, “I’m having a really strong season of racing, but there is no room for complacency; I have to be out there fighting and pushing to the limit in every track session. I’m heading to Rockingham straight from Spielberg where I was racing in the F3 Euro Series, so I’ll now focus on my British F3 campaign and look to continue the momentum on to Rockingham.”   The 19-year-old Carlin driver tested at ‘The Rock’ a couple of weeks ago and ran consistently within the top ten, topping the timesheets in one of the sessions and finishing up third quickest overall in the test. “I had a good test at Rockingham,” says Jaafar. “We worked through a lot of set up options and were finding more time with many of the changes we made, so we should be well-prepared for the weekend ahead.” Lying second in the overall drivers’ championship, but only three points off the lead, Jaafar is keen to have three strong points finishes to stay in the chase. He explains, “My form has been very consistent this season and that has been key to being in the top three right from the first race. I can’t afford to be out of the points in any of the races as the competition is so close and it would drop me back into the clutches of the following pack of drivers. But, it’s not going to be easy as I have formidable team mates at Carlin and we’re very closely matched in pace, so every tenth of a second will count this weekend.” The Rockingham British F3 weekend starts on Friday with practice sessions, qualifying on Saturday morning and the first race in the afternoon. On Sunday the morning sprint race takes place with the third race in the afternoon.  Follow live timing at www.tsl-timing.com.
